Motorsport Recovery is a specialist provider of professional recovery services for motorsport events across the UK.

Formerly known as G & S Cross Country Vehicles Ltd, the business has built a strong reputation for providing experienced recovery teams, specialist vehicles and dependable support at race meetings, test days, track days and major motorsport events.

Our team has over 20 years of experience working at circuits across the country and supporting events ranging from club-level racing to some of the UK’s largest international meetings.

We understand that motorsport recovery is very different from conventional roadside recovery. Our operators may be required to work beside a live circuit, recover a vehicle from a gravel trap or tyre barrier, or carefully lift a valuable competition car—all while working under significant time pressure.

Every incident is different, but our priorities remain the same: protect the driver, protect the vehicle and help the event resume as safely and efficiently as possible.

Specialist Vehicles and Equipment

Our fleet includes purpose-built recovery vehicles supported by specialist lifting equipment and experienced telehandler operators.

Whether we are dealing with a small saloon car, a single-seater, a historic racing car or a modern high-performance vehicle, we approach every recovery with the same level of care and professionalism.

Our lifting equipment is regularly inspected and tested, helping ensure that it remains safe, compliant and ready for use.

 

Training for the Demands of Motorsport

Although general roadside recovery training, such as IVR, can provide useful core knowledge, much of it does not directly reflect the conditions our operators face at a motorsport venue. We rarely have the opportunity to cone off a working area or wait for every other vehicle to stop passing.

Our specialist training covers the safe use of recovery vehicles, lifting equipment and telehandlers, as well as communication, incident awareness and working safely within a live motorsport environment.

Our team also undergoes accredited HIAB training to ITSSAR standards, ensuring our operators have the recognised knowledge and practical skills needed to use this equipment safely and competently.

By taking part in regular marshal training events, our operators can practise realistic recovery scenarios, refresh their skills and build confidence working alongside marshals, officials and other members of the incident response team.

 

A New Chapter

After ten years under the ownership of Gordon Blair, the business has now passed into new ownership and is beginning its next chapter as Motorsport Recovery, Richard has already been at the core of the business for those 10 years and this step consolidates all he and Rachel want going forward.

While the name and branding are evolving, our commitment remains unchanged: to provide safe, reliable and professional recovery support to competitors, officials, organisers and venues.
